Before and after
Ponds and waterfalls

HabiScapes ponds have been featured as a "highlight" on the Missoula Parade of Homes. They will redefine how your yard will be used by your family and by visitors who come to experience all the sights and sounds of a real mountain creek. From the plunging waterfalls to the splashing cascades to the meandering creeks that flow from pond to pond. HabiScapes will create a habitat where you can escape and enjoy the birds and butterflies that "drop by".

HabiScapes ponds are recirculating and constantly filtering, therefore, they do not serve as breeding areas for mosquitoes that prefer standing water. Also, HabiScapes ponds are not pre-formed, so, are not limited in shape or size. Whether you like the welcoming of a small entryway pond or the thrill of long cascading creeks and plunging waterfalls, HabiScapes can design a water feature to surpass your expectations.

Review a selection of pond sizes, then enjoy a private showing of some of our clients' ponds in our Pond Gallery.

These small, entryway ponds welcome visitors, as well as allowing the tranquil sounds of a mountain creek to drift through the windows to the delight of the homeowners.

This typical backyard pond is only about 2000 gallons, yet offers the wonderful sounds of two waterfalls and a creek. The pond is large enough to grow a diversity of spectacular water lilies, cattails and other aquatic plants. Perennial beds were created at either end to soften the area and add even more lush beauty. At night, the underwater lights shimmer through the cattails and light the waterfalls.

This 10,000 gallon pond with two large waterfalls, multiple cascades, and two meandering creeks is a spectacular addition to this beautiful home in the forest. In a forest fire emergency, the large reservoir of water may make the difference between their home being designated a priority site by firefighters or sacrificed in favor of another home.

At 15,000 gallons, these homeowners enjoy a double pond, waterfalls, and an adjoining, boulder-strewn creek. They also enjoy the water lilies, irises, and cattails. The many fish swimming amongst the aquatic plants is a mesmerizing bonus. In an emergency, however, this beautiful pond becomes an emergency reservoir in the protection of their mountain home.

Standing at this pond/reservoir you can see the devastation by fire to Blodgett Canyon in the Bitterroot Mountains. This 50,000+ gallon pond will supply firefighters with plenty of water for protecting the home. For now, the homeowners enjoy their large trout and watching the wild turkeys and other wildlife that frequent the pond.

Some clients prefer the sounds of rushing creeks that cascade from pond to pond. These 60 foot creeks connect two small ponds flowing under a huge, natural stone footbridge. The creek continues, turning to rapids as it leaves the second pond and splits into two creeks around a huge boulder. The creeks join just before the final cascade into the large koi pond at the edge of their stone patio. Water lilies, pickerel rush, and other aquatic plants thrive in the 100 foot waterfeature.

Careful design and using native plants and stone can create a natural looking mountain creek. This is one of two meandering creeks that offer a diversity of cascading and flowing sounds. Flowing water attracts both human and wildlife alike.

This 4 foot vase from Indonesia makes a spectacular presentation as water flows down its contour around the entire perimeter. It was completed by adding water hyacinths and even fish!

The most important thing, is the easiest...relax by your pond. Enjoy the sounds of flowing water, the colorful fish, the birds flitting in for a drink; it's your private retreat.

What do you do in the winter? Many allow their ponds and creeks to operate all year while others enjoy a new use for the winter season...ice skating!
