Create this beautiful pond yourself, using the same components
as the pros. You can't achieve these results with a pre-formed
pond. |
Use a pump sufficient to create the waterfalls and cascades
you hoped to see and hear. |
|
Here are a couple of very important components
that make the difference between success and failure in a pond.
We have seen folks come up with every substitute imaginable
... from plastic trash cans to old satellite dishes ... but
nothing comes close to the effectiveness of the real thing.

Biofalls

|
The biofalls is an integral filtering component
that "disappears from view" by becoming a waterfall!
Berming around this unit creates the perfect planting bed for
perennials or native shrubs. Recirculating water from the pond
is filtered in this unit. In addition, natural and benificial
bacteria colonize inside, helping to clean the water while competing
with algae. Requires only yearly cleaning. |
| |
|
Skimmer

|
The skimmer, houses the pump which creates
the water current. Leaves, twigs and other surface debris are
pulled by the current into an easy-to-remove bag and breaks
the surface tension for a cleaner pond. Another filter inside
prevent debris from clogging your pump while filtering the water. |

Pump

|
The heart of the
system. These are high efficiency pumps that will save you money.
The 3000 gallons per hour (gph), shown here, is 115 volts and
only 2.6 amps, yet provides a great flow of water for waterfalls
and cascades. It costs approx. $21 per month to operate. A low
efficiency pump, in contrast, may save a few dollars initially,
but can cost you over $1,000 more to operate over three years! |
| |
| At Habiscapes, the pumps we most often use,
based on gallons per hour, are: 3000, 4500, 7500, and 10,000.

PVC Flex Pipe

|
PVC flex pipe is designed to greatly reduce loss of head
pressure. From its attachment to the pump in the skimmer, to
the waterfall, there is one continuous pipe with no 90 or 45
degree angles reducing water flow. No cementing numerous angles
along the way, simply lay out the pipe and it will conform to
your design.
1.5" pipe can accommodate approx 2200 gph, 2" pipe
can accommodate approx 4400 gph. |
| |
|
| Check Valve

|
This attaches to your pump. If you unplug your pump the check
valve will keep the water in the falls unit and the pipe, and
not allow it to flow back into the pond, until the electric is
turned on again. |
| |
|
Bacteria

|
This concentrated, natural bacteria
will colonize in your pond helping to create that natural aquatic
ecosystem that is so important for a healthy pond. Add it each
spring and during the summer. Available in 1 lb or 4 oz size. |

|
String Algae Buster (SAB)

|
A combination of natural bacteria and enzymes,
it breaks down the cell wall of string algae and kills it while
not harming fish or aquatic ornamentals. |
